This set of five greeting cards (blank insides) features artwork from UNC Biology students as part of a BioArt assignment, including the name of each student on the back of the card. Perfect for any occasion—from birthdays and anniversaries to holidays and just-because moments—these cards add a personal touch to your heartfelt messages. The proceeds generated from purchasing this item will go to fundraising for the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Fundraising helps the department upkeep our teaching and laboratory spaces, equipment, resources, events, etc. to serve UNC Biology students and further their education.

Sadie M.'s description of their design: "I chose to do this piece because I love mechanics and medicine. The heart is both a critical piece of machinery and a vital symbol of love, courage, and strength. Like the heart, an engine is essential. The heart is fascinating to me. The fact that something so small in comparison is so critical is just so amazing! I want to go into emergency medicine and interpreting ECGs and keeping the heart functional and operating is a big part of what people in emergency medicine do. On the other hand, I've always loved learning how different mechanics work, something like an engine or a stereo. Overall, I just thought this was a cool concept and overlapping idea!"

Azario C.'s description of their design: "I chose a caterpillar not just as a small ode to the Caterpillar Count assignment, but because caterpillars are some of the most interesting organisms in biology. They spend their days eating, followed by a period of transformation before emerging as a beautiful moth or butterfly. Biology seems to also act this way. Information is fed into the field, the scientists spend their time in a lab, and suddenly more information is released than what we ever could’ve expected. Biology is an ever-evolving subject, and developments are made every day. Biology is just like this caterpillar. That is what inspired me in this piece, which was super fun to draw! I haven’t drawn in a long time, so I knew I wanted to do something involving drawing."

Aleea W.'s description of their design: "I was inspired to create this art because, to me, biology represents the core processes that sustain life. As the smallest form of life, the cell undergoes division necessary for growth and development. In this painting, I illustrated a pattern of dividing cells capturing each mitotic stage- interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase- resembling what one may observe under a microscope. The vibrant paints were chosen to reflect the beauty and energy of life, while the gradient from one hue to another is meant to represent that life is ever changing, from the vast transformations of evolution to the intricate process of mitosis."

Holland M.'s description of their design: "This piece was inspired by my most recent unit in biology (anatomy, 252) and learning the anatomical layers of the skin, bones, muscle, and more. Learning this recently was one of my favorite units, as well as my favorite to draw in and label structures in, inspiring me to revolve this project around an aspect of anatomy. I also really enjoy doing watercolor and paint in my free time, so I used this opportunity to create a piece that is centered not only in my interest in science but my outside interests as well. I decided to add color layers based on gradients outside the anatomical hand that was drawn to emphasize the layering and complexity of the human body and how it (in this painting the colors) is all connected."

Raina S.'s description of their design: "Rangoli is an Indian art form in which flowers, peacocks, and other shapes are created using colored powder. This piece integrates various aspects of gene expression, including DNA structure, cohesion loop extrusion, and DNA-histone complexing, into traditional rangoli designs. As an Indian woman working in a lab exploring gene expression, this piece is a representation of me."
